Lawrence Township Trustee and Lawrence Police Explorer Post Formalize Partnership

3-year agreement signed pledging mutual support


The Office of the Lawrence Township Trustee Steve Talley has entered a formalized Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lawrence Police Explorer Post 160, pledging mutual support between the two entities for the next 3 years.  Per the agreement, the Trustee’s Office will provide annual financial support to the LPD Explorer Post and the Explorer Post agrees to regularly provide service to the residents of Lawrence Township.

through its programs and activities, including supporting community-service related events within the Township, such as the annual Fourth of July celebration in Lawrence Park, Community Shred Day, and other activities and events.

“We are most grateful to Township Trustee Steve Talley for his ongoing support of these terrific Explorer Scouts of Post 160,” said Lawrence Chief of Police David Hofmann. “In addition to attending regular meetings and activities, Explorer Scouts learn the importance of experiential participation in community service, while also developing their possible career interest in law enforcement,” Chief Hofmann continued.

“Exploring’s purpose is to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults,” Trustee Steve Talley said. “The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop,” Talley continued.

“The Township is excited to enter into this agreement to encourage and support local youth taking interest in community service,” Trustee Talley concluded.

The formal agreement extends the partnership between the Lawrence Township Trustee’s Office and Explorer Post 160 through 2019.
